This is a very nice 1981 Raleigh Gran Sport touring road bike with a rare women\'s mixte frame. This one comes from the golden age of lugged steel bicycles. One of the very few Raleigh bikes that were handmade in Japan - the quality of the frame and components is top notch. Very nice Raleigh-branded Suntour derailleurs, cranks, Dia Compe brakes and many lightweight alloy parts.The bike was just professionally refurbished - it\'s been reconditioned tuned, detailed and is 100% ready to ride anywhere. Brand new CST Super HP gum wall tires (for period correct appearance), new inner tubes, new chain, new cables/housings, new Brooks-inspired riveted synthetic leather saddle and matching handlebar tape. The lugged steel frame is lightweight and very solid. The original paint has very nice luster but does have some minor paint nicks from normal use (touched up carefully for protection and aesthetics). Rides wonderfully, it\'s super fast, stops on a dime and handles like a dream.The frame measures 50cm (from the center of the crank to the top of the seat tube). The top tube measures 57cm (center to center) and is 33.5\" from the ground, so it would be suited for most cyclists 5\'4\" to 5\'10\" in height.Don\'t make the mistake of buying a vintage road bike that is \"all original\", needs \"some work\" or \"TLC\" only to find out that you need to spend $200 - $300 more to get it roadworthy again. Local pick up is preferred. Otherwise, this bicycle will be professionally packaged and shipped from a bike shop using a brand new box with the entire frame securely wrapped in foam tube. We have shipped hundreds of bikes over the last 15 years and have never had a bike damaged due to insufficient packing. Packaging labor, materials and fees included in the shipping cost.The package will be shipped FedEx Ground insured for the transaction price with signature confirmation unless other prior arrangements/additional payment is made.Bicycles need to be partially disassembled to fit in a box for shipping; if you are not mechanically inclined, we highly recommend having a bicycle shop reassemble the bike for you - we cannot be held responsible for any damage resulting fromimproper assembly. To box a bike we take off the handlebars, pedals, front and rear wheel, seat post, rear derailleur, etc.. Due to packaging/shipping, some bikes may require minor tuning and wheel re-truing at set up.
