Drafting Supplies, Pittsburg/Cleveland" (leather strap broken, somestaining to box).Instrument appears to be in superb condition with no damage to glass or levels. We know little about engineering tools so it's sold "as found". Size:11" long and 7"high circa early 1900's. Weight before packaging about 10 pounds. Received this note from a collector on regarding this level:
Its a Model # 5115 and part of a larger group within the 5000 models.
serial number 23982 tells me your Y level was made in 1911. The reason it is
called a Y level or convertible level is because it can be converted by
unscrewing the small plugs at the center of the scope and the two posts screw
into the exposed treads. You can then turn the scope and let the larger round
ends sit in the craddles giving the level a free spinning and tilt action.PLEASE SEE MY OTHER VINTAGE AND ANTIQUE DRAFTING AND ENGINEERING INSTRUMENTS ON sale.
