British Staffordshire I Lay My Body Down To Sleep Child\'s Plate Circa 1840s Antique mid 19th century British Staffordshire pearlware child\'s plate with relief molded floral border. Decorated with a scene of a child and two angels in black transfer with hand colored highlights in yellow, orange, pink, brown and green. With the prayer \"I lay my body down to sleep: Let the angels guard my head. And through the hours of darkness keep. Their watch around my bed.\" Has crazing typical of earthenware, some staining, and a bruise to the front edge. Measures approximately 6 5/8 inches wide. This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not affect the display of the piece.
