ULTRA-RARE RSP SATURATOR Tape-Saturation Emulator W/POWER SUPPLY AND MANUAL -- FULLY TESTED

Vintage 1990s rack-mount tape-saturation emulator by RSP, a defunct company that \"sort-of\" morphed into Rocktron, with whom you may be more familiar.

In terms of tape-saturation emulators of this vintage, most people seem to live and die by the Fatso. I really like this one better. Maybe it\'s just my ears, but I really like the range of subtle-to-truly-over-the-top that this piece brings to the table.

These rarely show up for sale nowadays -- and when they do, the proprietary external 9V power supply is hardly ever there. We have it! And it works!

And no, your eyes do not deceive you -- we also have the ORIGINAL OWNER\'S MANUAL, which cannot be found online for love or money. NO ONE who sells one of these things ever has the manual. And here it is. Yours.

The unit has been fully tested AND IT WORKS, beautifully. We didn\'t just turn it on and see if it lit up. ;) As always, you\'ll probably want to hit the controls with some tuner cleaner, but that\'s considered standard practice.

It\'s 3 1/2\" high, a double rack space. AND LOOK AT THOSE FOR-REAL ANALOG VU METERS.

This is from an archived product page at Sweetwater: \"Iit combines two 12AX7 tubes with RSP\'s proprietary circuitry to create the classic saturation curves of hot-level analog recording, while allowing the recordist to retain all the benefits (like high signal-to-noise ratio) of the squeaky-clean digital medium. Users of The Saturator can pinpoint the desired amount of saturation they want, from just a touch to the massive amounts typically found in the very best \"needle-pinned\" rock and roll. Inserted at the board between a digital multitrack and an R-DAT mastering deck, The Saturator combats the sterility often associated with mixing to digital. When inserted on a vocal or instrument, the Saturator imparts a unique tube-derived character that\'s not otherwise available from any other source. The Saturator is a dual channel, two rack space unit finished in anodized hot rod blue. The tubes and their associated circuitry are the focus of a minimal signal path constructed of only premium quality components, resulting in pure tube richness without excess noise or unwanted coloration. Large, precision analog VU meters are switchable between saturation and output. Ins and outs are via either XLR or 1/4\" jacks. You can even watch the tubes \"do their stuff\" through front panel cooling ports.\"

Here\'s a YouTube video, dealing with tape saturation emulators in general, in which this item is featured:

Original retail of the Saturator, introduced in 1996, was $699.

So what are you waiting for? Plugins are nice, sure, but you can put this on every input as you overdub. And you\'ll spend considerably more than this on a decent mic preamp that does the same thing only not as well. ;)

You won\'t see another of these any time soon. Don\'t wait.
