VINTAGE DRESS

e r a : 1930s, early 40s

f a b r i c : sheer layer on top with opaque layer underneath - (not entirely sure what the fabric content is), eyelet lace trim. Both layers are very fluid and soft.

c o l o r : black, ivory

d e s i g n e r : unknown

d e t a i l s : Lovely late 30s early 40s black maxi style dress with sheer overlay. This is sleeveless with an ivory eyelet lace collar that covers the shoulders. Fitted through the torso and waist with a long full skirt. Eyelet lace detail on the hem of the dress. Little black velvet bow detail on the shoulder. Side metal zipper closure.

c o n d i t i o n : Great overall condition. At one point someone added side waist gussets on both size to increase the size. I don\'t find it noticeable (see photos for up close details) One period era mend (see photo).

✦ SIZING - Vintage clothing sizing does not reflect modern standards. When determining size, make sure you account for enough room to move comfortably. Additionally, vintage clothing is more fragile and should be worn with this in mind. Occasionally there are seam allowances or darts that can be removed, as well as tailors that can alter a vintage item to fit your particular shape.

When determining size I recommend measuring the following:

HIPS: measure around the fullest part of your hips.

BUST: measure over the fullest part of your bust while wearing a bra.

WAIST: measure around the smallest point of your natural waistline.

SHOULDER TO WAIST: measure from the very top of your shoulder - where the seam would lie, down the front, over the bust, to your waistline.

LENGTH: measure from the top of your shoulder, down the front, and to the point where the hem would be. Inseam measurements for pants would be measured from the inside of the leg at the very top of the groin, down to the hem.
