You are looking at a nice (1970\'s era) Shure Brothers PE-54D (Unidyne III) dynamic cardioid microphone that has been cleaned and tested. Often referred to as the Paul Butterfield mic it was a favorite of his as a harp micwhen performing live on stage as seen in pic # 2. The only difference between the PE-54 and PE-54D was cosmetics....otherwise the exact same mic.The signal strength on this old girl is 100% and very clear and it comes with it\'s original 20 foot cable, newer mic clip and original carrying case.
Pic # 3 shows the mic characteristics.
The Shure PE-54D microphone was basically a Shure 545. The only difference is that this mic is set at High Impedance as where the 545 was a Low Impedance microphone.
The PE-54D serieshad a distinctive look and was a radical newdesign for Shure Brothers in the to late 1960\'s - 70\'s with it\'s bold, simplistic and modern layout. Great for \"general broadcasting\" but even better for harp use. A very high quality cardioid dynamic microphone and nothing but the best response from buyers on these little mics.
As you can see there are very few signs of wear. The satin chrome finish shows extremely lite scratches and pitting as seen in the pics provided. The black plastic fittings look very nice too with zero cracks or fractures...just a few small scuffs. The Shure label that surrounds the tip of the mic looks excellent. There is no tarnish on the mesh grill that I cleaned the best I could and added a new foam insert under the front screen as the original had completely degraded away. This helps greatly with the sound characteristics as well. Mic is 100% complete and solid. No loose parts.
The on / off switch works perfectly sliding smooth without issue.

Overall a great looking and excellent working mic that\'s certainly above average for a 50 year old microphone and an easy 8 on a scale of 1 - 10. Hook this one up and you are ready for any live event. The original 20 foot XLR cable is included and it\'s free of any damage. Soft and pliable with a nickel plated Switchcraft 1/4 inch male end connector that will work with most modern audio equipment and all guitar amplifiers.
The replica Shure clip is newer but fits this mic like a glove and provides plenty of tilt up and down to get just the right height. Clip will screw on to any American desk or floor stand as well.
Best part is that the original plastic carrying case comes with everything else. It\'s in great shape and has a new foam inner insert to keep the mic safe while in storage. A great accessory all around.
