This a total custom microphone. I started with a stock XB and converted it into a mic for amplified Harmonica. Listed are the modifications.Removed the original crystal element, wiring and connector.
Drilled and chopped the shell. The top fin was reduced in size to better fit in the hand.
Sand blasted prepped and powder coated with a Deep Orange Textured finish. Looks Great!
Installed a new screw on connector with stainless set screw.
New mill spec linear volume pot. topped off with a painted black solid brass knurled knob.
All new wiring and silver solder through out.
A 99G86 Shure Controlled Magnetic Transducer was installed with a proper Harp Mic Gasket. Date code is 847, that would be the 47th week of 1958. I got the element from a shure 510C I purchased. The casing states Shure controlled reluctance on it. I couldn\'t open it to verify. 1958 was the last year that the white cloth controlled reluctance was available. The transition happened that year. So this is one of the 1st controlled magnetics produced. Great tone and output 1000 Ohms+ This custom Microphone has been tested and is in perfect working order. I saved and collected the parts for this mic a few years and now it\'s available to you. Please see the pictures and feel free to ask any questions you may have.
