XIX CENTURY Capo di Monte (CAPODIMONTE) CUP WITH N / CROWN MARK RARE 2.5\" H
For sale is Capo di Monte (Capodimonte) cup with typical for this style reliefs of 4 goats heads on sides and cupids playing with flowers on outside of this beautiful porcelain piece. The factory mark on the bottom is featuring typical for Capo di Monte mark of \"N\" (standing for Naples where original factory was located) and a crown for the original owner - the Neapolitan King Charles of Bourbon. He inherited the throne of Spain becoming Charles III King of Spain (1759-1788), so he moved the porcelain factory in XVIII Century to Spain, but production continued in Naples by other manufacturers using the same logo and similar porcelain process. After the disruption of Napoleonic wars, Capodimonte production was resumed by several manufacturers and the \"Crown and N\" mark was continuously used by others with reference to the Capodimonte style and original manufacturing process. By the way, this production was directly related to Meissen manufacturing since Charles married the granddaughter of Augustus II, who of course founded Meissen.
This cup was rarely used but in excellent antique condition with no chips or cracks or deterioration.
