Product Description(2 Pack) Double Acting Tailgate Tie Rod Style Pneumatic Cylinder
Tired of manually lifting and securing heavy tailgates? Let pneumatic power do the work for your dump truck. The Tailgate Air Cylinder from Mytee Products is a reliable pneumatic cylinder (with double-acting features) to lift, lock, and position tailgates. It has an anodized aluminum body and a carbon steel rod for durability and a chrome-plated finish for corrosion protection, as well as consistent performance. With a bore of 2-1/2" and each stroke measuring 8" in stroke length and clevis mounting style, this tailgate lift cylinder provides smooth movement when raising weight from dump trucks, trailers, agricultural equipment, and industrial machinery. This tie rod pneumatic cylinder can accommodate maximum working pressures of 1 MPa and loads up to 273 lbs (dependent on load breaking). Overall, it provides reliable pneumatic power in extreme conditions.
- Durability: The durable rod and body of the tailgate air cylinder are made from anodized aluminum and a chrome finish, respectively. As such, both parts are highly resistant to wear due to moisture, dirt, and daily usage. The corrosion-resistant finishes will help protect the parts from wear due to moisture and dirt, thereby providing years of dependable performance with little maintenance required.
- NBR Sealing System: The NBR seals on the tailgate cylinder are designed to keep air inside the cylinder when the cylinder is in use, thereby maintaining consistent air pressure & reducing the possibility of leakage. This high-quality sealing system will result in consistent repeat performance due to the numerous operating cycles required to operate the tailgate cylinders efficiently.
- Double-Acting Pneumatic Functionality: The double-acting pneumatic cylinder uses compressed air to both extend and retract the cylinder, allowing for easy and smooth actuation throughout the entire stroke. All tailgates made from this cylinder will be able to lift, lower, lock, and position themselves precisely, thereby increasing operating efficiency and reducing the use of manual effort.
- Clevis Mount Design: The clevis mounting system used to connect the tailgate cylinder to the dump truck tailgate will provide a strong and stable connection. This will help ensure that the alignment of the cylinder and tailgate remains correct while operating the tailgate cylinder, transferring the greatest amount of force to the tailgate from the tailgate actuators, and enabling the fast and easy installation of the tailgate actuator on the dump truck, trailer, agricultural equipment, or industrial machinery.
How to Install a Double-Acting Pneumatic Cylinder?
- Before installing the cylinder, you must check that the cylinder specifications (i.e., cylinder size) match the application and mounting dimensions.
- To install the cylinder, secure the clevis (the Y-shaped connector attached to the body) to the mounting bracket using a pin and retainer.
- Next, attach the rod-side clevis (the Y-shaped connector attached to the rod) to either your tailgate or the part being driven and ensure proper alignment.
- After connecting the cylinder to your air supply, the next step is to establish an air connection with the cylinder and to ensure all of those fittings are fine.
- Once the air supply is connected to the cylinder, apply air pressure with the cylinder and cycle it several times to ensure smooth operations.
- Lastly, check all of the mounting points and air connections for secure installation before putting the equipment into operation.
