This is a pretty RARE findThis came from the estate of the recipient of the letter who had passedThe recipient was a resident here in Eugene, Oregon in 1968 when this letter was sentHere is some of the provenance that validates this letter and its authenticity...The recipient, Tom Sims, lived in Eugene, Oregon in 1968 and until his death this last yearIn May of 1968, Tom passed along a note and some campaign material(s) that his son had createdto then Presidential Candidate Richard "Dick" NixonThe Republican Presidential Primary for Oregon was scheduled for May 28th, 1968During the days leading up to the State's Republican Primary, Presidential Candidate Richard Nixon wascampaigning throughout OregonThis letter is dated May 25th, 1968 - Portland Oregon(this was Saturday, a few days prior to the State's Republican Primary)The letter (envelope) is postmarked AM May 28th, 1968 - Portland Oregon(this was the day of the State's Republican Primary)Letter and envelope are Richard M. Nixon are both pieces of his "official stationery"Nixon would go on to WIN not only Oregon's Republican Primary but wouldto on to win the National Presidential Election and was inauguratedas the 37th President of the United States on November 5th, 1968
This is a pretty significant signature and at a very significant time...He signed this note/letter....."Dick" NixonHe used the signature "Dick" (or occasionally "Dick Nixon"), but this was strictly reserved forpersonal friends, family notes, casual correspondence, or close political allies

NIXON" stationery which contains a watermark (see photos)Hand signed in blue ink in Portland, Oregon on May 25th, 1968Stationery measures 7 1/4" x 10 1/2"....2 folds that were made to fit it in the envelopeEnvelope was opened across the top with a letter openerPostmark is clear and legibleEnvelope shows minor signs of wear from passing through the US mail and being handledI have not had it authenticated but guarantee that this would authenticate as 100% original in every way...
