*SET of 9* Wm Guerin & Co Limoges Gold Dinner Plates, 11", V. Good Cond. For Sale

ABSOLUTELY STUNNING.This set of nineantique Wm. Guérin & Co gilded dinner plates make an undeniable statement of celebration. Made in Limoges, France, between 1900 and 1932, they have a rich, filigree pattern of gilding over cream-colored porcelain. They are a single-owner set, purchased in Chicago at luxury department store Marshall Field & Company (known in the era of purchase for having a Louis Comfort Tiffany glass ceiling). The granddaughter of the owner stated that they were purchased around 1904, though this date cannot be verified. Included are twelve branded Marshall Field and Company Chicago China and Glassware felt plate pads in three colors, believed to be original. The Replacements ID for this set is GUE15.These would look stunning on any formal or Maximalist table, and the soft, creamy color of the porcelain base may mix beautifully with the gilded / gold encrusted Noritake and other Japanese mid-Century sets such as Christmas Ball. They wonderfully complement ruby glass and crystal; emerald, cobalt, and other jewel colors; plus silver and ecru.Backstamps

Very good antique condition. No chips, cracks, or repairs. Finish is glossy and clean. Gilding is raised and brilliant. At least two have faint friction marks, approx. 1.5cm by .5cm, on the ungilded center of plate, from being stacked. Some have flaws in the gilding (see photos), including flea bites, small scuffs, and show-through of the red ground. Some have expected minor imperfections of manufacture, such as the dot in the glaze in photo 15. The rim of the foot is discolored in all (see photos), as is typical for the age and purpose of use.
