Here is a darling American Character Toni dressed doll from the late 1950s. She is 10.5 inches tall and is made of vinyl with joints at the head, shoulders, and hips. She does not have a jointed waist. The American Character logo is on her back, but did not undress her to show it. She has open/close blue eyes and rooted blondish hair. Nice original coloring. Her joints are nice, and she is a clean, well-dressed doll.
According to my reference book, her outfit (which came boxed) is #A46/250 from 1958. It includes her felt coat with brass buttons and pockets, a red straw hat, and red plastic shoes. The original box may have contained stockings, and it had a white handkerchief trimmed in red tucked into the right pocket. I never had that piece, and she is not wearing stockings. She is wearing a white cotton half slip and vintage panties (neither pictured). Toni has a cute red plastic purse that is actually original to Vogue\'s Jill doll, but Jill\'s name is on the backside.
Toni comes from a smoke-free home and without a stand or original packaging. She will be packed well for travel.
