This is a single original leaf (one sheet, printed on both sides) from Hartmann Schedel’s Nuremberg Chronicle (Das Buch der Chroniken / Liber Chronicarum), printed in Augsburg, Germany, in 1496 by Johann Schönsperger (c. 1455 – 1521).
Schönsperger’s Augsburg editions of 1496, 1497 and 1500 were unauthorized, smaller reprints of Anton Koberger’s monumental 1493 Chronicle.
Ironically, these “pirated” Augsburg versions are far scarcer today than the famous Nuremberg issue and are prized by collectors as true rarities of early Side A
