Inspired by antique silhouette portraits of the 1800s, this P Prescott collection reimagines the elegant profile portraits of the period with Black men and women at their center.
Traditional silhouettes are transformed with period-inspired clothing, jewelry, lace, decorative details, and subtle touches of color while preserving the distinctive oval format and graphic character of antique silhouette portraiture.
The result is an imagined historical portrait, rooted in the visual language of the past and reinterpreted through a contemporary Black perspective.

Drawing from Blackamoor paintings, sculpture, jewelry, decorative objects, antique imagery, and period interiors, P Prescott reinterprets these historical forms through images centered on Black people. Period dress, elaborate jewelry, silhouette, ornament, and the visual richness of antique decorative arts become the vocabulary for creating an imagined visual history.
