Original 1863 Stoughton Branch Railroad way bill documenting freight forwarded from boston, ma to easton, ma, dated March 18, 1863. Measures approximately 8.5 x 12 inches. Printed railroad form completed in manuscript with numerous freight entries, shippers, consignees, weights, freight charges, and remarks.
The manifest records a variety of commercial freight including cases, bureau, bales, barrels, grain, fish, salt, leather, rope, boiler, cradle, and other merchandise, providing an excellent snapshot of Civil War-era railroad freight operations in eastern Massachusetts. Several merchants and consignees are identified in the handwritten entries.
Condition is good overall for its age with expected folds from original handling, light toning, scattered soiling, and minor edge wear. Blank reverse with mirrored bleed-through from the ink. Please review all photos for condition and content.
