Original 1875 Brooklyn, New York billhead and paid receipt from John B. Bradley's Phoenix Iron Works, located at 93 Wyckoff Street near Smith Street.
Dated June 3, 1875, and made out to Mr. Dunn, the handwritten entry records work involving a railing at house No. 237 Baltic Street, for $2.50. Marked “Rec'd Payment” and signed John B. Bradley.
The elaborate printed advertising identifies Bradley as manufacturer of:
“Girders, Columns, Iron Railings, Stable Fixtures, Coal Hole Covers, Fire Escapes, &c.”
An ornate side panel further advertises plain and ornamental iron railings, granite posts and galvanized bases for cemetery lots, shutters, wrought guards, builders' anchors and general smith work. Bradley's residence is printed as 47 Third Street near Smith.
An especially attractive piece of 19th-century Brooklyn architectural and ornamental-iron trade ephemera, documenting iron railing work at a specific Baltic Street residence.
