347 pages.Biography of King Richard II (1367-1400 A.D.)--------Richard II was King of England from A.D. 1377 until deposed in 1399 by Henry Bolingbroke. He was born in Bordeaux to Edward the Black Prince and Joan of Kent, and inherited the throne at age 10. His early rule was dominated by regency councils and his uncle, John of Gaunt. Richard was cultured and handsome, but was also considered haughty, moody, and deeply obsessed with the divine right of kings. He was known for establishing the royal portrait tradition and rebuilding parts of Westminster Hall.
At the age of 14, he famously confronted rebels in the Peasants' Revolt of 1381 in London, demonstrating bravery.
Richard was was frequently challenged by the "Lords Appellant," leading to the "Merciless Parliament" in 1388. After regaining power, he turned on his rivals.
Richard seized the inheritance of Henry Bolingbroke prompting him to invade - which resulted in Richard’s deposition.
