The immersive 360-degree painting depicted Pickett’s Charge and was designed to surround visitors standing on a central viewing platform.The Boston Gettysburg Cyclorama opened in 1884. This version of Philippoteaux’s panorama was later moved to Gettysburg and survives today as the restored Gettysburg Cyclorama at Gettysburg National Military Park.The souvenir includes a large folding illustrated key to the complete panorama, approximately 16 × 18 inches when opened, with numbered positions identifying troops, officers, landmarks, and actions shown in the painting. This copy retains the 1886 M. J. Kiley interior but has a distinctly different illustrated 10-cent wrapper copyrighted 1889, featuring a portrait medallion, flags, artillery, and mounted soldiers.The Gettysburg Cyclorama returned to exhibition in Boston for a period in 1889 after having been replaced by Custer’s Last Fight, providing contemporary context for this later wrapper state.ConditionOriginal pictorial wrappers show age toning, foxing and spotting, with light edge and handling wear. The wraps have an approximately 1 1/2-inch split at the bottom of the spine fold; the booklet remains intact and stable. Interior pages show typical age toning with scattered light spotting.
