Simplex production totaled only ~1,865 cars over 1907–1918 — this is genuinely rare-marque material, not mass-market automobilia.
Simplex was a premier American luxury and high-performance automobile manufacturer, active roughly 1907–1917 in New York City, built on the earlier Smith & Mabley Simplex chassis. Simplex cars were among the most expensive and technically advanced American cars of the Brass Era — rivaling Mercer and Stutz in performance pedigree, aimed at wealthy buyers.
Surviving Simplex automobiles today are exceptionally rare and valuable — complete original Simplex cars sell at sale in the hundreds of thousands to over a million dollars (they're a fixture at Pebble Beach-caliber Brass Era events).
This plate has the "H.P.", "MODEL", and "CAR" data fields blank rather than stamped, and shows real oxidation and red enamel wear consistent with genuine age
