1910s Edwardian Crushed Velvet Piano Scarf, 24"x24", 9" Fringe. Sunburst Back.:
$68.00

Now 28% Off! This Edwardian era crushedvelvet parlor/piano scarf is a square approx. 24" x 24" with seldom-seen 9" rayon "art silk" cordon fringe. This size makes it so versatile - as a center cloth on a parlor table, a topper for a piano, or as a decorative piece draped over a vanity or nightstand.
The top is a lightweight silk-blend, hand-dyed, mottled crushed velvet in rich gold, copper and taupe tones. The pile is intentionally thin and supple. The underside is cotton with a vibrant unusual sunburst tie-dye-style watercolor pattern in teal and cream tones. This combination of plush velvet face with a cotton-based backing means it conforms gracefully wherever it's placed without any stiffness.
The fringe has rare 9" long strands in plum/magenta. Because they are made of smooth-fiber rayon, they remain separated without the typical knotting of silk fringes.
Made Circa 1910 - 1920, this piece represents a bit of Victorian, Edwardian, Art Nouveau, Arts & Crafts, Boho, even the trendy "Whimsigoth" interior designs.
The velvet nap has absolutely no bald spots or thin areas and is odor-free. Every single hole is fringed with no missing strands, no tangles and no knots. It's only flaw is a small isolated brown spot (see photo) that can easily be hidden.
