This is a rare, original production cel drawing #28 from the classic 1934 Disney short, *The Dognapper*. It features iconic animation history with both Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck together on a motorcycle, capturing a dynamic, high-speed moment of the film.
*The Dognapper* (1934) is a cornerstone piece of animation history because it features one of the earliest and most genuine "buddy cop" pairings of Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck. At this point in Disney’s evolution, the studio was still refining the dynamic between their established star (Mickey) and the emerging, hot-tempered newcomer (Donald). This short was a critical step in testing their chemistry before they began starring in the iconic trio shorts with Goofy.
The "long-billed" design you see in this drawing is highly sought after, precisely because it captures Donald in his developmental infancy. In his earliest 1934–1935 appearances, Donald wasn't the expressive, malleable character we know today; he was essentially a generic, bird-like creature with a very long, stiff bill, a long neck, and a more waddling gait.
The drawing retains its vintage appeal with the production paper toning and registration marks, making it a highly desirable piece for any serious animation art collector.
The framed piece sits at 21“ x 16“
