1942-S Walking Liberty half dollar, authenticated / graded / encapsulated by PCGS as Superb Gem Uncirculated, MS66; bright with small bronze toning on the obverse. This is a highly collectible specimen, from the early World War II period when victory was less certain, from the San Francisco Mint quite near the Pacific War area of operations. Gem Uncirculated conditions are scarce, and so MS-66 is a higher Gem level that is in collectible range of the most discerning of collectors. The 1942-S has the characteristic weak strike of Liberty\'s left hand, which is why the higher Gem grades are hard to find and obtain.
