THE CARD:Issued by the Exhibit Supply Co. of Chicago, this card comes from the W461 Exhibit series, printed between 1947 and 1966 and sold through arcade vending machines across America. These oversized cards (about 3-3/8 x 5-3/8 inches) were a staple of mid-century baseball fandom, and they were issued with blank backs. This is the lighter print variant.
THE PLAYER:Ted Williams, \'The Splendid Splinter,\' played his entire 19-year career with the Boston Red Sox. A 19-time All-Star, two-time Triple Crown winner, and six-time AL batting champion, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1966.
