Vintage Original Pontiac Silver Streak Airplane / Flying Wing Hood Ornament
Outstanding original vintagePontiac hood ornamentfeaturing Pontiac’s dramatic aircraft-inspired styling.
This is an exceptionally impressive ornament, with avery long streamlined central spear, broad swept wings and distinctive downward-curved wing tips. The design has a strong aircraft/jet appearance and makes an excellent example of Pontiac’s elaborate mid-century automotive styling.
The ornament is believed to be anoriginal Pontiac/GM piece. Similar examples have been identified in collector and sale references as Pontiac Silver Streak hood ornaments; however, because there is conflicting information regarding the exact year and application,I am not representing a specific model year or part number as confirmed.
Condition
Very good vintage used condition.
The chrome remainsbright and highly reflective overalland the ornament presents extremely well for its age. There are normal signs of age and use, including light scratches, scattered pitting, oxidation and finish wear, particularly on portions of the wings and recessed surfaces.
No attempt has been made to conceal normal age-related imperfections.
