1950s 1960s True Vintage Luxe Parisian Chic Navy Tweed Wool Skirt Suit S/M EUC For Sale

Late 1950s to early 1960s true vintage luxe Parisian chic and elegant navy tweed postwar wool skirt suit with boxy jacket and straight skirt in size small/medium, excellent vintage condition. Skirt and jacket are both lined. Notched collar. Oversize black buttons with navy halo at center. Provenance: originally purchased new from Toronto department store Simpson\'s exclusive high-end clothing salon The Room. Imported to Simpson\'s from the Paris atelier of designer Frédéric Senne. Labels for both are inside the jacket, along with a label that says Made In France. This is a very high quality suit. Please read right to the end of the description.
SIZING: All measurements taken flat. Compare these to flat measurements of similar garments in your closet. Allow about 2\" of wearing ease (or inches in addition to measurements of your actual body) in the waist and hips to ensure that you\'ll be able to move, breathe, and eat. The jacket has a boxy cut and is meant to have more ease (a looser fit) than the skirt.

CONDITION: Excellent vintage condition with no apparent wear, holes, or smells. Has been dry cleaned. Waist has been significantly and quirkily altered, with a long tab sewn sturdily over the waistband closure (please see photos); the best way to wear the suit seems to be to line up the tucks in the jacket and skirt as shown in the photos. This will put the zipper over one hip bone, and one side seam will sit forward of the side of the body. This is not obvious when top of skirt is covered by the jacket, or if a knit top is worn under the jacket and pulled down over the hips instead of tucked in. The price reflects this idiosyncrasy. Black snaps have been sewn into lining of jacket, and removable dress shields (not included) can be added easily to armpits with snaps sewn to match. There are hanging loops for the skirt. The waistband has been reinforced with seam tape, and the bottom hem is partially finished with seam tape. Skirt seams have been left intentionally unfinished.
