True Vintage 1950s Mexican Zapotec Bocamanga Poncho Handwoven Wool Southwest Tex. This is an exceptional, beautifully preserved vintage child-sized wool poncho dating to approximately the 1950s. The textile is entirely hand-loomed using traditional weft-faced plain weave techniques, showcasing a striking graphic design rooted in Southwestern American and Mexican folk art history. The centerpiece features a bold, contrasting black and white serrated "eye-dazzler" diamond motif set against a vibrant fire-engine red field. The sides are accented by classic banded pinstripes in natural cream, brown, and pink. Authentic loom-woven piece with a built-in vertical neck slit (bocamanga) woven directly into the foundation rather than cut post-weaving. The bottom edges are finished with a continuous, hand-knotted cream wool fringe. 100% natural animal wool warp and weft fibers. 40 inches (Length) x 20 inches (Width). Excellent vintage condition.
