This example features the collectible “OHAU” spelling error, where Oahu was incorrectly spelled OHAU during the original production.
The original presentation folder specifically identifies this error and states:
“If your Coin reads OHAU instead of OAHU you are the lucky owner of a rare collector’s item.”
The reverse identifies it as a Statehood Year Souvenir Coin, originally good for $1.00 in trade at participating businesses and redeemable through the Maui Chamber of Commerce until July 1, 1960.
