1963-1964 Washington automobile license plate with five sevens in the renewal sticker. Nice low plate number from tough Skamania County as well. Original paint. Some minor signs of age and possible prior usage. Lie flat, no extra holes, no rips, no tears. Authentic state-issued tag for your collecting consideration, as opposed to knockoff reproductions that are available on and elsewhere.
In 1957 Washington added the third additional prefix letter to what had signified Skamania as the county of issuance since 1935. Originally the 13 smallest counties had two letter prefixes, of which SA indicated Skamania, it being one of the thirteen.
Green 1958-1962 sticker-dated “WASHINGTON” plates were replaced by the 1963-1980 “WASH” plate, a long-lived series represented by this particular item. The “WASH” abbreviation was not well received. Each year after that, renewal stickers were used to revalidate for later years. For Skamania County the prefix letters ran from SKA through SKK, a very small number indeed. Many of them remained in use for decades, making decent examples impossible to find today.
65+ years of age and expired. Condition as photographed. Could be some photography glare and shadows, not on the plate.
