This print is the 1975 Maryland Duck Stamp Print, 2nd. Edition. Stearns is known for his strong stroke of realism, and this print is faithful to that. Many well-known artists created beautiful works that were not meant for the state or Federal competitions, but reached the highest artistic standards. This lovely print from 1975 shows a flock of Canada Geese (called "Can-Cans" by hunters) lifting off after a night's rest to restore energy and feed. In the background, we see a very familiar Wisconsin or northern Michigan lake and shoreline, all of which adds to the charm of the piece.
This print will make a nice addition to any collection and is from one of the real masters in American wildlife art.
