In Memoriam. The Free World Mourns President Chiang Kai-shek. Taiwan: Funeral Committee for the late President Chiang Kai-shek, 1975. Chiang died in April of 1975. Chinese and some English. Three volume hardcover set in original slipcases and with very handsome patterned silk cloth covers with Chinese landscape motifs. Gilt titles on the spines. 7x10.5 inches, about 2500 pages total. Slipcases have similar patterns as the covers and also have titles in gilt on the spines.
Volume 1 is in black patterned silk, narrative is entirely in Chinese. Many color photographic illustrations.
Volume 2 is in dark blue patterned silk. It has an English language section that includes letters and correspondence related to his death, and a listing of delegates attending the funeral service. The rest in Chinese, with many sepia and color photographic illustrations.
Volume 3 is in grey patterned silk, entirely in Chinese with many color photographic illustrations from his life and political work.
All volumes are in very good condition; slipcases have light wear to edges and some light scrapes. The books weigh 13 pounds. (There is some flash reflection in my photographs). Uncommon on the market.
