DRAFT ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT/ RESERVE MINING CO PROPOSED ON LAND TAILINGS DISPOSAL PLAN OCTOBER 1975
This ls a rare original copy of The Draft Environmental Impact Study that was prepared by Reserve Mining to satisfy the court ruling in then landmark U.S. vs Reserve Mining Co lawsuit. This court case determined that Taconite tailings could no longer be dumped in Lake Superior and forced Reserve Mining forced to dispose of the tailings on land. This was a huge 1970\'s environmental lawsuit presided over by Judge Miles Lord.
The large format 17\" X 11\" X 2\" X 320-pqge document is dated October 1975. It\'s loaded with maps, charts, graphs, and data all related to on land disposal of Taconite Tailings in order to fulfill the court\'s ruling. For its age the document is great condition. The only flaw I noticed is some surface wear and the title page has pulled loose from the comb binding but is laid in place.
A scarce piece for anyone interested in the history of environmental law or the history of Lake Superior. Check my response - you will be pleased.
