Title
1986 Schwinn Voyageur Touring Bike – 59cm – Single Owner – Vintage Steel
Description
A wonderfully preserved 1986 Schwinn Voyageur, owned by the same rider since new and now professionally tuned and ready to ride.
The Voyageur was built as a true touring bicycle, and this example still has the character that makes these bikes so appealing: a classic steel frame, triple drivetrain, drop bars, full fenders, rear rack, and a riding position designed for long days rather than short trips around the neighborhood. Schwinn’s 1986 catalog places the Voyageur squarely in its touring lineup.
Finished in a beautiful deep green with gold graphics, this bike remains remarkably complete and wears its nearly forty years honestly. There are scratches, oxidation, finish wear, and other signs of use, but no attempt has been made to erase its history through unnecessary cosmetic restoration.
The bike has been professionally tuned by The Whistle Bike Shop. The vintage gumwall tires show age and should be evaluated or replaced before serious mileage or loaded touring due to some cracking.

Why It Matters
The Voyageur comes from an era when a touring bicycle was expected to be versatile, durable, repairable, and comfortable enough to carry its rider a very long way.
That purpose is still visible throughout this bike. The steel frame, triple gearing, generous tire clearance, rack, fenders, and straightforward mechanical components weren\'t added to create a touring aesthetic—they were there because this bicycle was designed to travel.
Finding one is not especially remarkable. Finding a single-owner 1986 example this complete, with its history still visible rather than restored away, is considerably more interesting.
This is a bicycle for someone who wants to ride a piece of cycling history, not merely hang one on a wall.
About The Whistle Bike Shop
The Whistle Bike Shop is an independent bicycle shop in the Pittsburgh area with a particular appreciation for interesting, useful bicycles from every era.
Every used bicycle we sell is individually inspected and serviced in our shop. We don\'t simply acquire vintage bikes and resell them as found. Our goal is to understand what the bicycle is, preserve what deserves preserving, address what needs mechanical attention, and describe it accurately so the next owner knows what they are buying.
Questions about fit, condition, components, or shipping are welcome.
