1987 Yamaha CG160S Solid Cedar with Indian Rosewood Body. Playable Project For Sale

1987 Yamaha CG160S Classical Guitar. Completely playable project. Plays with ease and sounds great. Serial# 71003448 The Cg160S is considered one of the best sounding classicals in the CG series built from 1984 to 1989. Warm resonate tones. Just the right amount of bass with bell like treble. Harmonic\'s and projection you will find in guitars costing many times more. The S in 160S stands for Solid Cedar top matched to Indian Rosewood back and sides. Standard size 2\" nut with a 25\'5\" playscale. 19 frets all smooth on the ends. Low action 2.75mm at the 12th fret with all of it\'s adjustment left at the bridge saddle. Tuners were recently replaced with Music Pro Gold with white replacable buttons. Turn with ease and hold as they should. Guitar body as full multi ply bindings with yellow accents and a ornate back center stripe that matches the sound hole rosette. Lots of detail went into Yamaha\'s upper line Cg series. The guitar was packed for a road trip in a soft shell padded case. However a suit case was stacked on top of it and caused some damage as follows. There are three cracks in the top from the bridge being pushed down a litttle to much. One runs along the right side of the bridge and is 7 1/2\" in lenght. The other along the left side of the bridge is 2\" in lenght and the 3rd is at the bottom of the bridge just under the 1st string and it is 3\" in lenght. See last 5 pictures. All of these cracks can be repaired by filing them with a good luthiers super glue exactly like Stewmac number 10 super glue. It is fast drying with the consistency of water and will go all the down thur the crack before drying. Stewmac also sells thin Cedar strips you can glue under the crack for extra strenght and stabilty. I have owned this guitar since early 2024 as is and the cracks have remained stable this is from light playing in a protected enviroment. If you have a steady hand you can do it. Many video\'s out there on how to. I would recommend letting a luthier or local guitar tech do the repair and the result is a almost invisable crack repair. Guitar has normal light pick marks and swirling in the top finish. Neck is secure in pocket and bridge has no pull. I will ship this guitar in a old chipboard case I have for a added layer of protection. It\'s beat up with no handle but solid.High-end guitar for great price. It needs care, love and to be played.
