Interesting pair of Civil War-related photographs associated with Chattanooga, Tennessee.
One photograph shows a group of Union military officers / soldiers posed among rustic wooden buildings.
The second is a remarkable panoramic view showing a military bridge across the Tennessee River, with buildings, military encampment and the surrounding Chattanooga landscape.
A handwritten identification on the reverse of one photograph reads:
“U.S. Military Bridge over Tennessee River Chattanooga Tenn.Erected 1864 — Washed out 1867.”
The images appear to reproduce photographs dating from the American Civil War / Reconstruction era. The exact date when these particular photographic prints were produced is unknown, and they are offered as historical photographic prints rather than represented as original 1860s prints.
