Pair of two vintage Japanese or Japanese-style theatrical stage kimono robes featuring bold traditional-inspired designs.
One robe has a rich green satin-like exterior decorated with cranes or herons, flowers and pale metallic-look detailing. The second is purple with colorful floral medallions and traditional Japanese-style decorative motifs. Both feature striking red contrast lining.
These are exceptionally large, dramatic garments with wide bodies and sleeves, apparently intended for stage, dance, theatrical, ceremonial or display use rather than as ordinary bathrobes. Their simplified construction, bright interior panels and metal snap fastenings suggest vintage performance costumes.
Each measures approximately 50 inches across the main body and 52 inches long, not including the additional width or dimensions of the sleeves. Please review the photographs and measurements carefully.
No maker, country-of-origin or fiber-content labels were found. The fabric has a smooth satin-like appearance, but the exact material is unknown and is not being represented as silk.
Vintage condition with wrinkles from storage and expected signs of age. A few small lightening/stain spots noted on the green robe. Quarter sized. See photos. No cleaning has been attempted on these items. Stitching is intact on both items. Please examine all photographs closely for the exact condition of each garment. They would make striking theatrical costumes, fashion-display pieces, wall hangings or additions to a vintage textile collection.
Sold together as a lot of two.
