2006 Playoff NFL Playoffs, Signature Proof #25 -- Drew Bledsoe, Dallas Cowboys, serial numbered 3/5. A certified autograph from Bledsoe's last full season as a starter, and one of only FIVE copies made.

Autograph / certificate: The signature sits on an applied light-blue signature panel set into the front of the card, with "AUTHENTIC SIGNATURE" printed in the silver band directly beneath it. The panel has a visible edge where it is laid onto the card stock -- this is a label or sticker autograph, described that way here so there is no confusion, not a signature laid directly onto the card. Signed in black ink. Authenticity rests on Playoff's own "Authentic Signature" designation; there is no separate certification number and no third-party grading.
Appearance & autograph detail: Raw, not in a holder. The front is a dark chrome-effect design in navy and gunmetal, with Bledsoe cut out against a black background, a large silver "11" panel to the right and the Cowboys star in the upper corner, and the gold Signature Proof script across the top right. He is shown in the Dallas white home jersey. The signature is a bold, sweeping black-ink hand that runs the full width of the panel -- clearly a "D" and a "B" with a long trailing stroke rather than a fully spelled-out name, which is how Bledsoe signed through this period. The back is white with a duotone helmet photo, his career passing table through the 2005 season, and the 3/5 serial in gold at the top. Corners are sharp and the card is flat. The dark chrome front picks up light readily, as these Playoff chrome fronts always do; I find no creasing, bends or scratching.
Worth knowing: Serial 3/5 verified against the card in hand. Five copies. Cards this scarce from a 2006 Playoff product rarely come to market at all, and a single-digit serial on a five-card run is the shortest print you will find in this set outside of a one-of-one. Bledsoe signed as a Cowboy here, which is the least common of his four uniforms on cardboard.
Player career: Bledsoe was the first overall pick in the 1993 draft out of Washington State and spent nine seasons in New England, making four Pro Bowls and leading the Patriots to Super Bowl XXXI. He later started for Buffalo and then Dallas, where he played in 2005 and 2006. He finished with 44,611 passing yards and 251 touchdown passes across fourteen seasons.
