Up for sale is a 2009-10 Panini Hall of Fame Famed Fabrics Prime memorabilia card of Dominique Wilkins of the Atlanta Hawks, card number 7, hand numbered 05/10. Photographed here front and back exactly as you will receive it.
Serial numbered 05/10. The print run is stamped on the card itself: 05/10. Only ten copies of this card exist anywhere in the world. That is the number on this specific card, not a general description of the parallel — it is photographed and you can read it for yourself.
What the manufacturer certifies. The back of the card carries the manufacturer's own wording, quoted here exactly: “The enclosed game-worn swatch is guaranteed by Panini America, Inc.”
Game-worn, and the back says so. A great many relic cards from this era carry material from a photo shoot or a rookie premiere rather than a game. This one does not. Panini's wording is quoted above and it is specific: the swatch is certified as game-worn. That is the version collectors actually want, and it is worth knowing the difference before you buy anything with a window in it.
What PRIME means. Manufacturers reserve the PRIME designation for swatches cut from the parts of a jersey collectors actually chase — seams, stitching, piping, numbering, multi-colour panels — rather than the plain single-colour body of the garment. The word is printed on the face of the card, and the photographs show exactly what is behind the window.
The look. Landscape, burgundy and cream inside a striped gold border. FAMED FABRICS is set in cream script at the centre, Dominique Wilkins is cut out on the left, and a two-colour prime swatch is let into a cream panel on the right with the word PRIME beneath it, his team and name along the top edge and the Basketball Hall of Fame seal in the corner.
Dominique Wilkins. The Human Highlight Film. Wilkins won the 1986 scoring title at 30.3 a game, made nine All-Star teams and seven All-NBA teams, and scored 26,668 points at 24.8 a night with a career high of 57. Hall of Fame in 2006 and a member of the NBA's 75th Anniversary Team.
About 2009-10 Panini Hall of Fame. Panini built this one around the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame itself, and the checklist reads like the enshrinement list: burgundy and cream card stock, the Hall's own seal struck into the design, and sets devoted to signatures, game-worn fabric, scoring leaders and the 1992 Dream Team. It is a product aimed squarely at collectors who care about the history rather than the current rookie class.
Condition. This card has been inspected front and back under direct light and is in near mint or better shape. Corners are sharp, the edges are clean, the surface is free of creases, dents and print defects, and the memorabilia window and foil are intact with no lifting. It has been stored in a penny sleeve inside a rigid top loader and has not been handled outside of protection. Please study the photographs closely — they are of the exact card you will receive, not a stock image, and they are the most accurate description of condition I can give you.
