This is the first time the United States Mint has ever produced a 2.5 oz silver medal for any series. The American Liberty High Relief Silver Medal has the same obverse and reverse design elements found on the gold coins in the collection. This is the second design released in the series and is meant to offer fresh visions of Lady Liberty.
On the obverse side of 2019 2.5 oz American Liberty High Relief Silver Medals is a depiction of Liberty in left-profile relief. She has free-flowing hair and soft facial features. There are 13 rays of sunlight emerging from behind her head to form the crown she typically wears. The rays of sunshine represent the creative spirit of the American people.
The reverse face of 2019 American Liberty High Relief Silver Medals includes an image of the American bald eagle. The bald eagle depicted here has intricate details for its feathers and its wings are flexed behind its back. The powerful talons of the eagle are outstretched and ready to capture its prey.
American Liberty High Relief products are produced by the West Point Mint and Philadelphia Mint. These silver medals are available from the Philadelphia Mint and feature a “P” mint mark below the date mark on the obverse.
