Description
Striking antique maritime drawing by E. Boehm, dated 1923, depicting an elaborately detailed early exploration-era sailing ship or galleon underway at sea.
The artwork features a highly decorative historic vessel with multiple sails, rigging, flags, figures aboard ship, and hand-rendered wave detail. The muted colors and aged paper give the piece a wonderful early-20th-century appearance.
The lower left is inscribed “Copied by E. Boehm 1923.” The wording indicates that Boehm created this work after an earlier historical image rather than claiming the underlying composition as his own.
The piece is housed in an attractive vintage painted wood frame with an intentionally mottled/distressed finish.
