Set of three antique Bavarian silver 10 Kreuzer coins from the reign of
Maximilian III Joseph, Elector of Bavaria (1745–1777), converted for use
as shank buttons.
The group contains three genuine 18th-century Bavarian 10 Kreuzer coins
representing two designs.
Two feature the Patrona Bavariae design with the Madonna and Child and
10 Kreuzer denomination.
The third features the Bavarian arms and the motto IN DEO CONSILIUM.
Each coin has a metal button shank attached to the reverse. The age of
the button conversions is unknown.
All three show expected circulation and use wear, including toning,
scratches, surface marks and areas of wear to the designs. The attached
shanks and mounting/solder areas obscure portions of the original coin
reverses. Please examine the photographs carefully for condition and
visible details.
An unusual matched group of 18th-century Bavarian silver coin buttons
with appeal to collectors of antique buttons, altered coins, Bavarian
numismatics and European historical objects.
Sold together as the set of three shown.
