These are 3 Antique French Books called Oeuvres De Francois Coppee, there are 2 books of Poesies dated 1874-1886 & 1 book Contes 1883. Poesies III - dated 1874-1878. Poesies IV dated 1878-1886. Contes - Vingt Contes Nouveaux dated 1883.François Coppée (1842–1908) was a prominent French poet, dramatist, and novelist. There are tables of contents in the back of each book. The editeur is Alphonse Lemerre of Paris.
Each book has been beautifully bound by Enrico Torrini of Siena, Italy and his mark is inside each book. \'Legatoria di Libri E. Torrini Siena\'. He primarily worked around 1890-1910, and waswell-regarded for high-quality bindings. It was known at this time for wealthier people touring Europe to buy copies of book and have them bound in the style of their choice. The end papers are absolutely beautiful in a swirled gold, red and blue colour and the outer page edges are red. There is gold/gilt coloured embossing on the outside.
The books are in a very good condition for their age, there are a few signs of age - slight wear/ sun fading on the covers. The pages just inside the covers are slightly browning but no foxing. There is a signature inside the cover of the contes book, I think it reads \'a lib Bruno Napoli 22 Septembre /98\' please see photos.
Measurements - Each book 15.5 cm length, 9.5 cm width and 2.4 cm deep. Two books are around 280 pages and the other 223. Weight combined 945g
