Driftwood is wood that has been washed onto a shore or beach of a sea, lake, or river by the action of winds, tides or waves. It is a form of marine debris or tidewrack. In some waterfront areas, driftwood is a major nuisance. Driftwood is aged, dead wood that has been in the water for some time. It loses all it\'s bark and usually gets lighter in color than normal wood. You can find it on beaches, in lakes, or even in creeks or rivers. In a aquarium it is used as decor and to lower Ph of the water. There\'s no doubt about it, driftwood is good, sturdy stuff. And one of the main criteria required for a piece of furniture to last is that it has to be built to withstand years of use and abuse, otherwise it will just fall apart.
