Lot of 6 vintage issues of The Etude Music Magazine, published by Theodore Presser Co., Philadelphia, spanning 1914–1932. An appealing group of early 20th-century music ephemera with colorful period artwork and material relating to American music and musical culture.
Issues included:
November 1914 – “All American Number,” featuring American composers and musicians including Edward MacDowell, Mrs. H.H.A. Beach (Amy Beach), George W. Chadwick and others
August 1926 – striking Jazz Age cover, “The Jazz-O-Maniac and Her Victim”
September 1927 – colorful “The Musical Argosies” cover
September 1928 – “The Gift of the Instruments” illustrated cover
February 1930 – cover missing
April 1932 – “A Look Into the Future” children's music/orchestra cover
These would be of interest to collectors of vintage music, Jazz Age and early 20th-century ephemera, period illustration, or music education history.
Condition: These magazines are approximately 94–112 years old and show substantial age and use. Expect toning, staining, edge and corner wear, tears and chips, creases, spine/binding wear, and loose or fragile areas. The February 1930 issue is missing its cover. The April 1932 issue has pencil writing visible at the upper left of the front cover. Additional writing, notations, interlineations or other markings may be present in this or the other issues. The magazines have not been examined page-by-page for completeness, markings or other defects.
