Air France Paris Londres 1936 Vintage Travel Poster Reproduction
About this poster:
This vintage poster promotes Air France flights between Paris and London. The artwork features a streamlined airplane flying above clouds, casting a prominent shadow shaped like the Eiffel Tower across a body of water, suggesting the English Channel. The design cleverly combines iconic imagery of both cities, emphasizing the speed and comfort of air travel between the two capitals.
The bold text at the top announces \"PARIS LONDRES EN 1h30\", highlighting the short flight duration. The lower section prominently displays the \"AIR FRANCE\" logo and the slogan \"LE CONFORT QUI VA VITE\", which translates to \"The Comfort That Goes Quickly\". The overall style is characteristic of travel advertising from the 1930s, employing simple shapes, vibrant colors, and a focus on modern technology.
The poster is an advertisement for Air France, a major French airline. Such posters were crucial for promoting international air travel in its early decades, appealing to passengers with the promise of speed, luxury, and connection between key global cities. The imagery is designed to evoke a sense of adventure and efficiency.
