Three quarter leather with marbled paper covered boards; 6 raised bands on spine; newer title block on spine; edges worn to boards; leather and boards worn and scuffed; Folio, 16" tall; two bookplates on front pastedown (Geo. Dawson Coleman and The Compton Domvile); frontispiece of "America" present, title page printed in red and black; 66 engraved illustrations in text; 8 fold-out plates present; 13 fold-out maps including Novum Belgium; Yucatan & Guatimala; Nova Gallicia & Guatimala; Insulae Americanae; Barmudes; Granada; Peru; Chili, Magellanica; Paraquaria; Brasile; and Venezuela. All portraits are missing with stubs present at locations. Includes the 'Instructions to the Binder' at rear of book, listing the 'Arx Carolina' plate and 'Virginia' map and does not list the map of Barbados. Also not listed is the plate of Guarme which is located on page 452. Pagination errors at page 136/317/138 (with Q3 at bottom of page), additional pagination errors at page 184/179/186 (V3 at bottom of page) and pages 187/179/189 (Samuel Chew, Esq added to end of text at bottom of page 188. Pagination error again at page 636/640 and again 639/636/641.Some waviness to tops of pages; interior is unmarked; 674 pages.
