Civil War M1840 Medical Staff Officers Sword with Brass Scabbard. The lower part of the blade has a partial \"Ames Mfg. Co.\", \"Chicopee\", \"Mass.\". The crossguard is tight on the blade, the grip moves a little if you force it. The crossguard has the silver \"MS\". The beautifully etched blade has \"U.S. Medical Staff\" on it, overall it is straight, unsharpened, no nicks, some age spots on the last couple inches by the tip, and a few spots of surface rust by the ricasso end. The brass scabbard is solid with a few dents/dings that cause it to be a little tight on/off (still goes on all the way), and it is marked \"Ames Mfg. Co.\", \"Chicopee\", \"Mass.\". Washer is missing. Length of the blade is 30\" (3/4\" wide and 3/16\" thick), the sword is 36 5/16\", and in the scabbard it is 37 7/8\".Check out my other War Items!
