Original antique daguerreotype portrait dating to approximately the 1850s, featuring an older woman wearing a period bonnet and dark dress.Beautiful early photographic portrait with hand-applied color, including pale blue tinting to the collar and gold-tone highlighting to her jewelry.The daguerreotype is displayed beneath an ornate floral brass mat/preserver in the surviving half of an embossed period case.Condition shows age-related wear, including visible scratches, marks and spotting. The case is incomplete with the opposite half missing and has exterior wear.
