Antique lot of four Washington Irving volumes published by G. P. Putnam's Sons, New York, in 1883. This collection includes Life and Voyages of Christopher Columbus (Vol. I), Mahomet and His Successors (Vol. II), Spanish Papers, and Life of George Washington (Vol. V).
These books feature attractive Victorian-era marbled boards with leather spines and represent works by one of America's most celebrated nineteenth-century authors. The volumes make an excellent addition to an antique book collection, library display, or Washington Irving collection.
Condition:
Interior pages appear generally clean. Bindings remain intact and the books are structurally sound. Exterior covers and leather spines show noticeable age-related wear including rubbing, edge wear, leather loss, scuffing, and wear to spine labels.
One volume has a loose front endpaper and a split hinge. Binding remains together and pages are intact.
