Antique 1890s 1900s Silk Waistcoat Double Breasted Victorian Edwardian Vest.
Authentic antique men\'s waistcoat, dating approximately from the late 19th to early 20th century, circa 1890–1930.
Constructed from a finely ribbed beige / champagne fabric, likely silk or a silk blend, with traditional white cotton interior lining.
Elegant long double-breasted style with shawl-style lapels, pointed hem and four front welt pockets. Original hand-finished construction and period tailoring details remain visible.
The waistcoat has been significantly altered during its long life. The upper/armhole construction has been modified and the original front fastening arrangement has been changed. Several original buttonholes remain visible, while the current mother-of-pearl buttons appear to be later additions. There is wear, fraying, staining and age-related deterioration visible throughout, all clearly photographed.
An interesting surviving piece of late Victorian / Edwardian-era tailoring, particularly suitable for a textile collection, costume archive, theatre, film production, study or restoration project.
