A candid outdoor scene, not a studio pose: two women in bustle-era dress (one in a floral skirt, one in gingham with a furled umbrella), three men in hats, an elderly bearded gentleman, and a small girl in a wide-brimmed hat, gathered on an overturned rowboat with the surf behind them. Likely the Connecticut shore near New Haven.
Photographer: George R. Bradley is listed as a photographer on Nash Street, New Haven, in city directories 1893-1903. The back carries his printed imprint with "Negative No. 449" written in by hand and the line "Duplicates can be obtained at any time by ordering by above number."
Size: mount approx. 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 in (see ruler photo).
Condition: clear image with mild overall fading. Foxing on the back, light edge wear, small corner ding (top right of back). An earlier owner's pencil notation on the back. Please see all photos; they are part of the description.
